Regardless of how complicated and efficient technology has become, products provided by manufacturers still need to get to the stores that sell them and, in most cases, this is done by truck drivers. Truck driving has been and continues to be an extremely lucrative career. However, to legally drive one of these trucks and enjoy the financial benefits that come with it, a person will need to be properly trained to drive these big rig vehicles. This means that they will need to make use of CDL training schools.

When it comes to choosing a school, however, there are a few options. The first option is with a company based trucking school. The other choice is a private school like what can be found at Domain. It’s important to understand the difference between these two options, as it can affect how a person may continue their truck driving career after graduating.
The first thing to understand is that a private truck driving school or a company-sponsored truck driving school basically does the same thing. In terms of education, they both teach a person how to legally operate a big rig vehicle.

From a cost standpoint, a company based truck driving school will typically require little or no money upfront for tuition. A private school would require the individual to pay the proper amount of tuition in order to take classes on truck driving.

The most significant difference is what happens after a person graduates from one of these CDL training schools. With a company based truck driving school, once a person has graduated, they will only be able to work for the company that sponsors the school. This is usually an agreement that is made before the person enters the truck driving school.

With a private school, a person has the option of working for any company they choose. In fact, many private schools have job placement programs to help graduates find jobs driving big rig trucks after they graduate.

There are merits, and there are downsides to both options. However, if you want to keep your options open for who you work for, a private school may be the best option. Regardless of what option you choose, it’s good to know the choices that are available and understand them so you can make the best decision possible.
