These devices that will not work for this purpose include medical x-ray film with images, color film, sunglasses, or smoked glasses. If you view the eclipse with one of these items, you could sustain serious damage to your eyes. Instead, you need to use properly designed eclipse viewing glasses to safely view the next eclipse event.
Solar Eclipse Glasses
Solar eclipse glasses can instructed from scratch resistant, black polymer, optical density five material. These glasses are able to filter out all of the ultraviolet and infrared light as well as 99% of harmful visible light spectrums that can damage your eyes. With these glasses on, you can view a solar eclipse and see it as an orange image.
Further tests that they perform, which is to protect your delicate eyes, these glasses are relatively inexpensive. You should not view the sun for an extended and long period of time with these glasses. Rather, you should use them to view the eclipse for shorter lengths of time to ensure the best protection for your eyes.
When you receive your eclipse viewing glasses, make sure there are no scratches or holes in them. Even a very tiny hole can lead in sunlight from the eclipse event which can damage your eyes. Therefore if you have an older pair of eclipse glasses, you should definitely check for any holes or simply buy a new pair in check those thoroughly when you receive.
Again, do not attempt to use welder’s goggles or sunglasses. They will not work to protect your eyes from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Sunglasses, for instance only protect you adequately from those rays when the sunlight is reflected from another object.
