The USCIS controls and regulates the EB-5 visa program. As part of the EB-5 visa program, entrepreneurs, including and their spouses and unmarried children less than twenty one years of age, are eligible to apply for permanent residency in USA, which is commonly known as a “Green card”. Entrepreneurs can qualify only if they make the required amount of investment in a commercial business venture in the United States; and also plan to generate or retain 10 permanent full-time jobs for qualified workers in USA. This visa program is known as EB-5 which stands for the name ‘employment based fifth preference’. It was first created in 1990 to boost the economic growth of USA through job creation and capital investment by foreign businessmen.
