Looking for a brand new SUV that’s stylish, strong and reliable? Check out the new Ford Explorer in Elgin, which has been completely redesigned for 2020.

Trim Levels

With the 2020 Ford Explorer in Elgin, you have your choice of five different trim levels, which are the base, XLT, Limited, ST, and Platinum trims. 2WD and 4X4 are available with the base, XLT, and Limited trim selections. The ST and the Platinum trim levels are exclusively 4-wheel drive. The base comes with 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, and an eight-direction power driver’s seat. As you move up the trim levels, more features are available such as heated mirrors, the Trailer Tow Package, adaptive headlights, and different engine configurations.

Drive Train

The base, XLT and Limited trim levels boast a 300-horsepower, 2.3-liter I-4 gasoline engine. It puts out 310 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm and gets a combined mpg of 24 or 23 depending on 2WD or 4WD configuration. The ST trim level comes with a 3.0-liter V6 that puts out 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm, and the Platinum’s engine, also a V6, gives you 365 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque at 3,500 rpm. All engines come paired with a 10-speed auto-manual transmission and all are now rear-wheel-drive SUVs.

Safety

The 2020 Ford Explorer in Elgin has an array of safety features to offer, including blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, pedestrian detection and automatic braking. The SUV is equipped with a vehicle-to-vehicle accident prevention system that earned it a superior rating on tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
